Gotta love the end of pregnancy

So in the middle of the night (1 am) yesterday morning, I'm woken up by something. I'm really hot and sweaty since it's been really humid, or maybe just me, and I start turning over when the pains hit. Hmmmm, this isn't nice. So I lay there and then another pain hits and I start getting really uncomfortable. I get up to go to the bathroom and more pains hit. I think I'm having contractions! So I wake Erik up, his dad comes over to watch C and we head to the hospital.

The pains are really uncomfortable but not too too bad. I get monitored and I'm having regular contractions, nurse checks but my cervix has not changed at all. So she gets me up to walk around the unit for an hour to see if that does anything. Lots to see at 3 am on theL&D ward! We saw a woman go in for a c-section, and her baby come out 5 minutes later. A new dad who was very excited about his new daughter, and a woman who barely looked pregnant and was definitely not in any pain come in and get sent home like 3 minutes later.

So at 3:30 am nurse checks me again, still no change. My contractions are regular but "weak". So I had the option to stay until 6 and get checked again or go home and wait until they get more intense. I choose to go home. I get home and back in bed by 4:30 and Caryn is up at 5:30. Awesome. By 7 we stop telling her to go back to bed and get up since I have a doc's appt. Since no one got sleep, Erik took the day off and came with me and Erik's dad took Caryn for the whole day.

So we go to my appt and doc measures me and I'm measuring 42 weeks. Cripes, now I'm thinking "how big is this kid going to be??" Doc apparently has the same thoughts and I go for an ultrasound (#7!!!!) tuesday to check baby's size and we'll go over the results at my next appt on thursday. If it looks like baby really is an amazon, we'll talk about inducing me. I really do NOT want to go the c-section route but that's also an option.

Oh, and the really good news?? As soon as I get home yesterday from the hospital, my contractions completely stopped. Not a niggle or a twinge. I felt great all day yesterday, minus the lack of sleep. Erik and I went for lunch, went to get my hair cut and face waxed, did some shopping, and came home and relaxed without C for a few hours. My body is a tease, and I'm ready to beat it! The only good thing I can see from this, is for the first time in several days, I slept really well last night and was sad to wake up at 7 this morning LOL.

I remember when I was pregnant with Amy, I used to have contractions all the time too (I even had to stop serving a customer so I could breathe through one....lol) I asked Nana how was I going to know when it was really time with all the contactions I had. She said don't worry, you'll know and she was right!!!!

Ugh, everyone tells me they're glad they're not me LOL. It wasn't this bad but these past 2 weeks have gotten worse.

I have no idea how i'll know but i'm hoping it'll be easy to tell. I have visions of giving birth in the car because i waited too long LOL.
